Reiki
Reiki is an ancient healing art whose origins can be traced to Nepal and the Himalayas. It was rediscovered at the end of the nineteenth century by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist scholar, who gave it the name by which it is now known throughout the world. Reiki is a Japanese word composed of two characters or ‘Kanji’. …..REI most simply defined as spirit and KI as energy (in Chinese, chi or qi). In Chinese Medicine System theory, it is the ki/chi flowing in the meridian system, or energy channels, of the body.
Reiki treatment consistently tends to produce a relaxation response in clients. This, on its own, has enormous therapeutic benefits both physically and psychologically. Both the practitioner and recipient appear to achieve a meditative state during treatment, and the benefits of mediation to health and wellbeing are well known. Clients frequently report the experience of being in another state, different from ordinary awareness – a totally new experience which they describe as both peaceful and deeply relaxing – and are surprised at the passage of time that has occurred during treatment. This is synonymous with the meditative experience.
In this era of evidence-based medicine, it is important to review evidence that exists about the effective
ness of treatments such as Reiki. Formal research has only recently been undertaken in relation to Reiki treatment. A sample of this research includes studies on the use of Reiki in the management of anxiety, depression and pain (Olson & Hanson 1997. Bucholtz1996. Richeson, Spross, Lutz & Peng 2010) and more recently A Randomised Controlled Single-Blind Trial of the Efficacy of Reiki at Benefitting Mood and Well-Being (Bowden, Goddard & Gruzelier 2011).

Acupuncture-based Sound Therapy (Tuning Fork Acupuncture)
Acupunture-based Sound therapy (Acutonics® Healing System) is an energy-based non-invasive treatment that is grounded in acupuncture channel and point theory. Precision calibrated tuning forks are applied to specific acupuncture points to access the body’s Channel and Chakra energy systems. These tuning forks represent a natural harmonic series, with each musical combination having its own uni
que healing properties. The tuning fork is struck and then placed on the points of the body’s acupuncture channels. The sound waves of the forks vibrate and travel deeply into the body along energy pathways affecting human physiology. Applying the forks stimulates and balances the body’s physical and subtle energy field to promote healing and stability. The Acutonics® Healing System was developed over 15 years ago in the U.S.A.
